Wonder at nature is often the starting point for my work. I take photos and detailed shots of plants, clouds, water, or other natural phenomena using my iPad. I process a selection of these into compositions and patterns. The basis for this can be simple (for example, a single photo) or complex; various photos or patterns that are processed and edited (whether digitally or by hand) into a new image.

The composition or pattern is then printed on paper, canvas, or another medium. This method prompts me to create new compositions and patterns once again. In this way, it continues to develop in various directions. What drives me, and what I want to show the viewer, is the diversity in nature, balance, optimism, and vitality.

Born in 1967 in Tiel (NL), she lives and works in The Netherlands. In the late 1980s, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht, followed by the Art Academy in Tilburg (1993). After completing a law degree at Utrecht University (2005) and a PhD (2012), she works at the AFM in Amsterdam.
